The Squaw Creek trail is a wide, well-travelled trail that follows the creek up a gentle canyon. The creek is strikingly scenic with giant conifers and mountain views. The creek is a rocky jumble which is a delight to energetic youngsters. Go as far as you want and head back the way you came. Plan to get your feet wet.
Squaw Creek trail is located at the back of the Squaw Valley recreational area. Drive all the way in and head for the gondola tower. Pass the gondola tower and head back to the mountain. Follow around to the right and look for the intersection of Squaw Peak Rd and Squaw Peak Way. Park anywhere and look for the trail head toward the mountain.
Distance & Difficulty
The trail is relatively wide and well maintained. Most of it is suitable for hikers of all abilities. There is no terminus or goal, so go as far as you want at your own pace.
