The Pacific Crest Trail runs North-South from Mexico to Canada mostly along the Sierra Nevada mountains.  Near Lake Tahoe, it connects Castle Peak (next to Boreal Ridge) with the Squaw Valley Bowl  and then the Alpine Meadows Bowl.  The trail is one of the natural wonders of North America.

From the condo, the trail can be accessed from the ridge along Ward Peak or from the Five Lakes Trail.  A stunning hike is to hike up Ward Peak and then along the Pacific Crest Trail to the Five Lakes Trail.  The Five Lakes Trail will lead down to Alpine Meadows Road.  Try leaving a car at the Five Lakes Trail trailhead.  It's a boring hike back to the condo on the road.

Distance and Difficulty

This is a demanding hike of roughly 9.5 miles with a lot of elevation gain and loss.  Prepare with a windbreaker, water, and some snacks at a minimum.  Footing is mostly good.
